The story a chess-playing friend once told me purported that Queen Elizabeth I increased the power of the queen chess piece to be more in keeping with the political power she herself wielded. At the time, this was called “mad queen chess.”

As a daughter of Henry VIII, I can well imagine her being that arrogant.

white: King’s Indian Attack, Sicilian, Ruy Lopez white side, Car-kann and french exchange White side.

And as black: dutch defense and Queen’s gambit accepted and Sicilian Defense.

Should I narrow my opening range down and become more knowledgeable on a specific opening? I only know a few moves of each of the openings, and just make my own moves after the most obvious.

It’s good to know a few openings thoroughly so you can react to different variations of it.
After that expand your repertoire to other openings. Sounds like you are well on your way.

I heard original Xbox games can work on the 360. Not sure if it’s true though, probably likely.

*Look up every word i didn’t fully understand.
*Learnt chess (started bad ended up pretty good, helps your problem solving IQ.
*played some sudoku puzzles everyday.
*Read Read Read Read Read Read. (anything from horrorbooks to educational).
And enrolled Into a small course which helps you sharpen your english skills. (westec Australia check them out.)

This year 5/10/06 I performed another test (different IQ test too) My score was 136 and my spatial Iq is now above average.

So there you have it, i proved you can improve your intelligence. I did this experiment not for myself, or anybody else but for my friend, which got demotivated by a arrogant teacher, and commited suicide.

– Do everything with your non dominant hand for an extended period of time. (I’m doing this right now and my brain hurts; I believe this can work, and it makes sense if you think about it

– Image Streaming (Don’t know how reliable this is, couldn’t find any damning evidence)

– Meditation (There is good reputable evidence suggesting that meditation can accelerate brain cell growth in specific areas of the brain, and do other things that promote intelligence, but the problem with the studies is, it doesn’t say for how long, and was it significant enough to justify doing it.)

– Brain exercises (Think chess, puzzles, crosswords, etc. The theory behind this is that you are exercising your brain. They say when you exercise you build muscle and increase in strength, they say the brain is the same way. I couldn’t find any evidence though)

– Colloidal Metallic Gold (Said to increase IQ by 20% in a month time span. There is research in this and studies, but unfortunately most of the studies are from companies who promote and sell Colloidal Metallic Gold. It also didn’t clarify if the increase was permanent or was it merely temporarily, a nootropic.)

– Fish fats (There is evidence suggesting this can increase intelligence, but again, is it significant? Is the increase permanent, or temporarily? Will I lose the gained intelligence if I stop eating fish fats, or reduce my intake back to normal levels?)

– Diet (They say diet is a big one, but we must think this out. If I eat the most intelligent boosting diet for 6 months, and my intelligence increased, will I keep that intelligence once I am off that diet? So would there be such a increase in neuron or neuron connection growth in a intelligent boosting diet compared to a regular one?)

Just my observations. Obviously a lot is biological, but what is biological? Evolution? We are one times were stupid, how did we evolve to be so smart? Genetic mutations? I think not, if you look at IQ scores from 20 years ago to now, you will see what I mean.

you will never turn a pigs ear into a silk purse! but you can IMPROVE what you have been given. there is a saying – if you don’t use it you lose it. Research proves that intelligence is improved by using your brain. just look at the info for the Nintendo DS brain training stuff!!

even after head injury new neural pathways can be made… there is a phrase to encapsulate this – its called neuro plasticity.
